Key responsibilities :
To act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in all 3G/4G/5G mobile Packet Switched (PS) network elements like PGW, GGSN, MME, ePDG, SGSN and other Packet Core elements.
Making recommendations for improvements in all aspects of the core functions and elements.
Configuration and software version management of the assigned mobile core network elements.
Supporting management of the relevant mobile core network element vendors.
Supporting Roaming & Carrier Relations to implement new roaming and wholesale implementation, including IREG testing.
Providing support to Pre-Sales (Solution Architects) through peer-review of proposed solutions to customer.
Working with Solution Architects and the Head of Telecom to work into High Level Design (HLD) documentation.
Convert HLD into LLD and specific core element changes to implement customer specific solution.
Support the Network Operations Centre (NOC) with live wholesale customer support, including both proactive and reactive identification / troubleshooting and resolution of issues of packet core issues.
Developing skills and expertise across the infrastructure components and new technologies.
Key Qualifications
Bachelors or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
Minimum of 5-8 years working in the telecommunications industry designing, integrating and managing Packet Switched network propositions for e.g. a NEP or carrier / MNO / MVNO.
Minimum of three years of systems integration, management and/or technical support of mobile core network components.
Demonstrable experience of managing & configuring Packet Switched network elements including GGSN, P-GW, SGSN, S-GW, PCRF & MME.
Circuit Switched (CS) network elements, interfaces and messaging for both 3G/WCDMA and 4G/LTE networks, including IMS CSFB and PCRF.
Voice SIP / RTP, ISUP and voice convergence technologies, including IMS (including VoLTE and VoWiFi).
IP networking, including IPv4 and IPv6, VPN IPSec and Point-to-Point (e.g. to CCNA standard).
In-depth knowledge of data core network architecture (including MNO and MVNO / MVNE infrastructure architecture) as well as network topology, including ability to describe the key elements of a mobile network and understand how the components function and interact as well as how mobile data sessions work.
Experience of capacity management and dimensioning of all Packet Core network nodes
Be able to derive call flows and interactions of each core element as required by each customer solution.
In-depth understanding of 3GPP, ITU-T and ANSI standards.
Understanding of roaming agreements and IR.21, including IREG testing.
RADIUS and Diameter for both signaling and charging scenarios.
Trouble shooting and fault detection. Proactive and preventative maintenance.
IP and SS7 network security.
Familiarity with BSS platforms and provisioning systems.
Successful track record of designing compelling technical solutions based on commercial needs of the customers.
