Meet the Team
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Manufacturing Quality Engineer (MQE) to establish, implement, and manage a robust manufacturing-focused product quality program. In this critical role, you will collaborate closely with our manufacturing partners, component engineers, design engineering teams, and operations team to ensure that every product delivered to our customers consistently meets Cisco’s stringent quality standards. You will be instrumental in driving product quality improvement in the factory through proactive risk sensing, performance monitoring, process development, and driving systemic solutions, both internally and with our suppliers.
Your Impact
As a Manufacturing Quality Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Quality Program Management: Establish, implement, and manage a comprehensive manufacturing quality program.
- Vendor Management: Conduct vendor audits, track performance metrics, and coordinate corrective actions to reduce risks, and improve predictability to ensure reliable delivery schedules and mitigate quality risk in the field.
- Root Cause Analysis: Lead root-cause analysis for any product, test process, or assembly-related issues, create and maintain Process FMEAs (PFMEAs) to prevent recurrence.
- Manufacturing Line Quality: Improve the quality of manufacturing lines at our partners, support New Product Introduction (NPI), assist Cisco engineers, and proactively avoid technical issues that could cause line down situations in production.
- QMS Governance: Own Factory and ODM Quality Management System (QMS) governance for policies and processes.
- Policy Execution & Reporting: Set and ensure quality policy requirements are executed, and quality performance is measured and reported consistently.
- Scorecard & Assessments: Own the scorecard methodology and conduct regular assessments to measure the quality performance and risk of Cisco’s manufacturing partners.
- Excursion Management: Monitor manufacturing partner excursion management, macro quality trends, and report quality-related disruptions to and escapes from the manufacturing process.
- Issue Resolution: When quality issues arise, ensure that field quality risk is mitigated to restart manufacturing while driving to true root cause and implementing effective corrective actions.
- Proactive Risk Management: Proactively manage manufacturing quality risk by conducting Process FMEAs and audits.
- NPI & Site Moves: Ensure that foundational changes to production – such as new product introductions or site moves – maintain or exceed quality expectations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate across Supply Chain Operations and Design Engineering to ensure manufacturability and field performance feedback are integrated into product design and manufacturing process improvements.
- Best Practices: Ensure that best practices are instituted across manufacturing sites, partners, and products.
- Data Integration: Develop and integrate new data sets into factory quality monitoring systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
- You are a highly experienced and independent quality professional with a passion for driving excellence in manufacturing.
- Engineering Degree in a relevant field - Manufacturing, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or other related hardware engineering fields.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in quality and/or manufacturing engineering.
- Proven experience with quality tools: Process FMEA, Control Plans, and New Product Quality Planning.
- English language proficient
Preferred Qualifications:
- Independence: Able to work fully independently with minimal supervision.
- Analytical Skills: Solid understanding and experience in performing root cause investigations, data analysis, and communicating findings, along with closed-loop corrective, preventative, and risk mitigation actions to executives and business partners.
- Communication: Strong communication skills, with demonstrated experience influencing technical and executive stakeholders.
