Looking to join a world-class blockchain development team? Ava Labs makes it simple to deploy high-performance solutions for Web3, led by innovations on Avalanche. The company was founded by Cornell computer scientists, who partnered with Wall Street veterans and early Web3 leaders to execute a promising vision for redefining the way people build permissionless networks. Ava Labs is redefining the way people create value with Web3. Join us as we empower people to easily and freely digitize all the world’s assets on one open, programmable blockchain platform

Bridges today are powered by Intel SGX technology and connect Ethereum and Bitcoin to Avalanche for seamless asset transfers. Since their launch in 2021, they have facilitated over $75B of value in asset transfers across networks. The team is expanding support for these bridges to new networks and asset types, as well as constantly evaluating architectural improvements for security, cost, and efficiency.

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to lead the team. This person will be responsible for working with leadership to drive Avalanche external connectivity forward, including proposing new solutions to improve security and reduce cost, and iterating quickly in a mission-driven environment. They will lead the development and deployment of the bridges, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical strategies with business goals. The ideal candidate has a strong background in blockchain technology, experience with secure and scalable software design, and a passion for innovation in the crypto space.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Drive the core technical projects of the Avalanche Bridge, from planning through release
  • Design, optimize, and implement novel cross-chain transfer and interoperability protocols
  • Work with our talented product, business, and engineering teams to communicate and align on upcoming features and releases
  • Develop automated testing suites and tools
  • Support our Infrastructure and Security teams with new releases and production monitoring (on-call rotation)

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • BS in Computer Science or related discipline
  • 2+ years of hands on blockchain, consensus protocols, distributed systems, applied cryptography, or similar systems
  • C++ and Golang
  • Strong understanding of blockchains and distributed systems (transaction formats, consensus mechanisms, light clients, etc)
  • Strong understanding of cryptographic primitives
  • Hands on experience with cloud deployments (AWS and/or Azure)
  • Experience with cross-chain protocols and smart contract development is a plus
  • Experience leading teams is a plus

Salary Range: $190,400 to $238,000

(**This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, a final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.)
